Who is Mike Riley?

A voice of reason. A vision of prosperity.

As a lifelong resident of Billerica, Mike has tremendous pride in history. Especially, in Billerica and in his families history, which he looks forward sharing in the upcoming months. Mike’s parents moved to Billerica in 1970 shortly after Mike’s birth. He grew up on Burnham Road in North Billerica, where his neighbors were, and are still, his family. Educated in the Billerica School System, Mike graduated Billerica Memorial High School in 1987. He spent some time in college and began learning the trade of a Roofer, as many Billerica youth do. Mike also worked as a Police Officer for the Massachusetts Port Authority Police. Mike married his wife Kristin of 27 years and started a family in 1993 (Ashley, Mikayla and Michael), where they built a home in Billerica and have resided for the past 27 years. When the kids were all in school, Kristin began her career as a teacher in the Billerica school system where she has taught for the past 16 years, and is now a third grade teacher at the Hajjar Elementary School. All the while, prior to, and two years into Kristin’s teaching career, Mike worked two jobs: a roofer by day and Police Officer at night, to make ends meet. Mike made the decision in 2005 to retire and run his roofing business full-time to allow him to spend more time with his family. Mike has coached his children and many youth in Billerica Baseball, Hockey and Softball and cheered them on, including Mikayla who excelled at gymnastics and diving. In December of 2008, the Riley’s took in a six-week-old Bullador puppy and named her Bella. Bella instantly stole their hearts away, and for the past thirteen years has been one of Mike’s biggest supporters. Moving forward, Mike took a job in 2016 with the Nordblom Company where he is a Maintenance Manager for their Burlington properties. Once Michael Jr., their youngest child went off to Connecticut College, Mike decided to give back to the community he grew up in, where he sought out and was appointed to the Billerica finance committee in 2016. Mike saw an opportunity to fill a void, where he applied to and was appointed to the Planning Board in 2018. In 2019, he ran and won a 3 year term, where he has chaired the board in the 2020 and currently in 2021 sessions. Mike has always enjoyed bringing people together and looks forward to working with all the residents and community leaders in making Billerica a better, more vibrant community for all.

Meet the Family

Mike currently lives in Billerica with his wife Kristin, dog Bella, and three children; Ashley, Mikayla and Michael. Both Mike and Kristin’s families grew up and still live in Billerica to this day. Kristin’s brother Jimmy, and sisters Dawn and Nicole, have raised their families here in Billerica as well, where her mom and dad have enjoyed staying involved and watching their grandchildren excel on the soccer fields, volleyball, basketball, track, the ice rinks and especially in the classrooms here in Billerica.

Meet Our Dog(s)

Bella is a Bellador (part Bulldog, part English Lab). She will be thirteen years old on December 6th, 2021 and has been a part of our family since 2008. Bella loves her family, going out for walks, and chicken.

And here is Cookie! Cookie is a rescue from Atlanta, Georgia. We originally thought she was the same mix as Bella, but come to find out - she’s a Pitbull! (with Lab, of course). Cookie will be four years old in May, and has been a part of our family since October, 2022. She is very loving to her family, loves her walks, and of course, cheese.
