Why I’m Running

Dear Billerica Voters:

I am excited to announce that I am a candidate in the upcoming April 11th election for the Billerica Select Board.

Circumstances in my life have changed, and I am once again able to devote my time and energy to foster and build relationships which will help and guide the Select Board back to one of respect and integrity.

It is clear now, more than ever, we need a Board that will work togehter to get us back on track. The track that allowed us to grow our fiscal strength and gave us the ability to invest in things like water infasturcture, roads, and supporting our School District.

An effective Select Board should also be non-adversarial. To be effective, the Board must work together. They do not always have to agree or be unanimous in their voting, but they should be respectful in how they carry out their responsibilities. I look forward to leading the way because Billerica deserves nothing less.

We have seen our tax bills soar and now more than ever we need to take a hard look at the policies which the Select Board has adopted, in order to get us the AA+ bond rating and work to strengthen it. Some of the decisions made in the past year will weaken that bond rating. We need to give our new Town Manager the ability to utilize his skills and work with the Board to strengthen our board rating and reserves.

It starts with respect and accountability. Over the next couple of months, I look forward to talking with you about my record of being pro-taxpayer, while treating those looking to invest in our community with respect. We must improve our reputation as leaders to attract new business to Billerica. Let’s not waste our potential.

I will continue to work to share and to listen. Change now is important to our future. With your help change will happen.
